Mechanical Engineering Lead, Engine-Generator Systems

Immedia Power is developing DOR, a compact platform for on-site electricity generation. We are working with leading players in the defense, mobility and data center sectors. We are at the pre-pilot stage, with the integrated prototype still ahead of us.

We are looking for a hands-on mechanical engineering lead to own the mechanical design and system integration of the unit, work directly with the founders and drive the product through prototype build and testing. This is an early engineering leadership role with the potential to grow into CTO as the company and engineering organization develop.

You will bring independent judgment, curiosity and a strong sense of ownership: challenge assumptions, explore practical alternatives and turn technical discussions into decisions and working hardware.

What you will own

• Lead the mechanical design and integration of the engine, generator and cooling system: frame and structure, mounts, packaging, airflow, exhaust and fuel systems, and the interfaces to the electrical and controls subsystems.

• Translate product requirements into architecture, subsystem specifications, interfaces and a practical development and test plan.

• Work hands-on on 3D layouts, design reviews, tolerance and clearance checks, supplier specifications, prototype assembly, commissioning and troubleshooting.

• Direct engineering service providers and suppliers: challenge proposals with calculations and test evidence, resolve interface gaps and hold partners accountable for agreed deliverables.

• Coordinate thermal, electrical, power electronics and controls specialists; identify where additional expertise is needed.

• Manage milestones, technical risks, budgets, bills of materials and design records, and help build the future engineering team.

What you bring

• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in gensets, engines, powertrains or comparable engine-driven systems, including hands-on system integration and prototype delivery.

• Strong mechanical and thermal design experience in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat exchange: coolant circuits, heat rejection, radiator/fan integration, airflow, exhaust and fuel systems, packaging, frames, mounts and serviceability.

• Design for manufacture and assembly: tolerances, materials, fabricated and machined parts, and working with workshops and suppliers to build prototypes.

• Strong 3D CAD skills in SOLIDWORKS including large assemblies and production drawings.

• Experience leading technical projects and external partners, with the confidence to challenge recommendations constructively and drive decisions.

• Resourcefulness, willingness to experiment and the ability to deliver with a small team and limited resources.

• A degree in mechanical engineering and clear written and spoken English.

• Hands-on experience developing, integrating or commissioning gensets or comparable engine-driven power systems, including hardware you helped build and test. (Advantage)

• Working familiarity with generators, power electronics, electrical protection, instrumentation and controls, and the ability to read electrical schematics. You will work alongside specialists here, not design these systems yourself. (Advantage)

You do not need to be the deepest specialist in every discipline. You do need to be a strong mechanical engineer with enough breadth on the electrical side to judge proposals, recognize gaps, bring in the right expertise and own the complete system.
