Senior Backend Engineer

Ocean is the first Agentic Email Security Platform built for the era of AI-powered attacks. The platform uses a network of AI agents to investigate every email in real time, analyzing behavior, validating intent, and uncovering hidden threats that traditional email security tools miss.

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is highly independent, adaptable to change, and excited by complex technical challenges. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems and innovative new features in a fast-paced environment.

We’re especially interested in candidates who actively work with AI technologies and understand how to leverage AI to build smarter, more advanced products and development workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Develop software components end-to-end: research, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring
• Contribute to architectural and technological decision-making
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure high engineering standards
• Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of backend systems
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Frontend, DevOps, UX, and Data Engineering
• Build and maintain high-scale, production-grade backend services and infrastructure
  
  

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience using high-level programming languages such as Golang, Python, Java, or C#
• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Hands-on experience designing and developing microservices architectures
• Experience working with databases and message queue technologies
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in dynamic environments
  
  

• Experience developing AI agents or AI-powered systems
• Experience with Golang development
• Cybersecurity domain experience
• Experience with TypeScript
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
