Founding Backend Engineer

Zipher is building the Autonomous Execution Layer for cloud data and AI workloads. Backed by $50M in funding, we orchestrate clusters, predict bottlenecks, and auto-heal infrastructure in real time, with zero human intervention, and we already run in production inside Fortune 500 environments. Autonomous execution is a new category, and a deliberately talent-dense team is defining it.

We are looking for a Founding Backend Engineer with 7+ years of experience at leading startups in cyber, data, or AI. You will own the core systems behind Zipher’s autonomous execution engine, turning high-volume telemetry and changing cloud conditions into reliable, real-time decisions across production data and AI workloads.

What You’ll Do:

• Own the core backend of the execution engine: architect and scale the services behind real-time workload orchestration, optimization, and self-healing
• Build resilient, high-throughput systems for distributed state, event streams, and production telemetry at enterprise scale
• Make autonomous decisions observable, explainable, and safe for the enterprise engineering teams that run on them
• Drive architecture with the founders: partner with data, ML, and platform engineers, and own your services from design through deployment and incident response

Requirements:

• Must: 7+ years of backend engineering at leading startups in cyber, data, or AI, including ownership of production-grade distributed systems
• Must: BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field
• Must: Strong production experience in Python or Go, designing robust APIs, services, and asynchronous workflows
• Must: Hands-on AWS at scale (EMR, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, S3) and distributed systems in production: Kubernetes, Spark, streaming platforms, or message brokers
• Advantage: Developer service in an elite IDF technology unit (8200, Mamram, Ofek, Matzpen)
• Advantage: Large-scale data platforms (Spark, Databricks, Trino, Flink, Snowflake) or AI/ML infrastructure
