About the Role

Amphenol TCS is building a new team to deliver optical transceivers and near-packaged and co-packaged optics (NPO/CPO) at scale. As a HW Engineer, you will design highly integrated optical transceivers and NPO/CPO optical engines and will own the schematics, layout, high-speed simulations, firmware support and HW validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement schematics, power design, layout definition and firmware support, high-speed interface design (224G PAM4, 448G PAM4, PAM6), high-speed simulations and HW verification.
• Bring up new hardware and debug complex issues in a lab setting.
• Create a hardware test plan and execute it in the lab.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional mechanical, thermal, optical, software, integration, and verification teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

Required Skills

• 3-5 years of professional experience in systems utilizing high-speed interfaces (16Gbps++).
• Strong knowledge and solid experience with high-speed electrical design. Deep understanding of high-speed signal design methods and validation.
• 2-3 years experience with power supplies design, DC/DC, Linear, etc.
• Analog design utilizing ADC, DAC, IDAC etc.
• Hands-on experience and strong lab skills: Hardware bring-up and debugging.
• Schematics (OrCAD preferred), Allegro layout, ANSYS HFSS – advantage.
• Hands-on experience with standard communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, I3C, MDIO).
• Experience with CPLD/FPGA design – advantage.
• Experience with optical transceivers (e.g., OSFP, QSFP-DD) or NPO/CPO optical engines, and with communications system design and optical networking – strong advantage.
• Familiarity with AI tools for development.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Motivated, independent, and collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills.
• Diligent and thorough.

Preferred Skills

• High-speed board design experience (all design stages and lab experience).
• Hands-on experience with optical test and characterization (e.g., BERT, optical spectrum analyzer).
• Hands-on experience with MCU low-level bring-up and lab test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.).
