Fusion Mantle is an Israeli startup building fuel-cycle systems for fusion power plants. Our first system is a compact loop of molten lead-lithium that demonstrates the extraction of hydrogen isotopes from liquid metal. The system is developed together with a leading German fusion company and is destined for a fusion research facility in Germany.

We are looking for an Integration Technician to join our hands-on building team. The role involves taking the system from drawings and P&IDs to a working, tested loop in our new lab: piping, heaters, pumps, gas lines, wiring and instrumentation. You will work side by side with our physicists and engineers in a small, fast-moving team, and your practical input will shape how the system is built.

•      Assemble the high-temperature liquid-circulating mechanical system from P&IDs and assembly drawings: piping, vessels, valves, flanges and fittings

•      Install the electrical systems: power distribution, control cabinets, heaters and heat tracing

•      Install, wire and check the instrumentation: thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow and level sensors, gas analyzers, and the data-acquisition and control I/O

•      Install thermal insulation and heat tracing for operation with molten metal at high temperature

•      Take part in the lab fit-out: positioning equipment, gas storage cabinets and utility hookups (power, ventilation, cooling), coordinating with outside contractors

•      Receive and inspect components from suppliers, and coordinate with machine shops, welders and other subcontractors

•      Work under the lab's safety program for molten metal, lead, and compressed and flammable gases, and help develop its procedures

•      Practical engineer or technician diploma (הנדסאי or טכנאי) in mechanical, electrical or equivalent hands-on experience

•      At least [X] years of hands-on experience assembling and integrating electromechanical systems, such as R&D setups, industrial machinery, process skids or lab equipment

•      Able to read and build from mechanical drawings, P&IDs and electrical schematics

•      Experience with stainless-steel tubing and fittings (compression fittings, flanges, tube bending) and with leak-tight assembly

•      Experience wiring control panels, sensors and motors

•      Confident with hand and power tools and with measuring and test equipment (calipers, torque tools, multimeter)

•      Careful, methodical and safety-minded, with a habit of documenting your work

•      Independent problem solver, comfortable working on a design that is still evolving

•      Good working Hebrew and English (technical documents are in English)

•      Licensed electrician (Israeli license, חשמלאי מוסמך or higher): a significant advantage

•      TIG welding of stainless steel, or a welding certification

•      Experience with vacuum systems and helium leak detection

•      Experience with high-temperature systems: heaters, heat tracing and thermal insulation

•      Experience handling liquid metals, molten salts or hazardous materials

•      Experience with hydrogen or other flammable gases, gas cabinets, or explosion-protected (Ex/ATEX) equipment

•      PLC or data-acquisition wiring and basic configuration

•      Background in a research lab, national lab or R&D company (for example research institutes, semiconductor equipment or defense industries)

•      Basic machining (lathe, mill) for making fixtures and adapters

•      Willingness to travel abroad for installation and commissioning at the customer site
