enSights, with headquarters in Austin, Texas and R&D in Israel, builds a clean energy management platform that gives renewable energy operators a single, real-time view of their assets. Using real-time monitoring and machine learning, we help customers optimize performance and reduce consumption at scale. We also develop hardware-based cyber security that protects the industrial and energy networks these assets run on.

The Role

We are looking for an Embedded Development & Integration Engineer to join our R&D team in Israel and lead development of our next-generation secure hardware platform. You will own the platform end to end:

• hardware requirements and supervision of the board design
• the software running on its onboard computers
• its FPGA logic
• integration and validation

Board design is carried out by external design partners under your technical leadership. The platform is being developed as part of a joint project with a US cyber security company. You will work closely with the enSights development team and with the partner's engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware

• Define hardware requirements and specifications for new platform versions
• Lead and supervise external board design partners through design reviews, prototyping and delivery
• Review schematics and PCB layouts; lead board bring-up, testing and lab debugging

Embedded Software

• Develop and maintain the software running on the platform's Linux-based onboard computers, including network gateway functions
• Develop and maintain FPGA logic in VHDL as part of the overall system
• Apply secure coding practices across all device software

Security

• Design and implement cryptographic mechanisms to protect data, devices and communications
• Contribute to the security architecture of the platform

Integration & Collaboration

• Lead technical integration with the US partner company: interfaces, joint testing and project milestones
• Work with the enSights development team on system integration
• Contribute to system architecture decisions and maintain clear technical documentation

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in embedded systems or hardware development
• Strong hardware debugging skills; able to read and review schematics and PCB layouts
• Experience working with and supervising external design vendors or subcontractors
• Proficiency in software development for Linux-based systems
• Working knowledge of applied cryptography and secure coding
• Experience with FPGA development in VHDL
• Solid understanding of system architecture across hardware, firmware and software
• Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Hands-on use of AI tools (e.g. coding assistants) to speed up development, testing and research
• Excellent written and spoken English

Advantages

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• Experience with network security appliances or network separation technologies
• Background in industrial control systems (ICS) / OT environments
• Experience in multinational R&D collaborations

Not Part of This Role

Cloud or back-end development, and UI / front-end development.
