Consumer Apps Team Lead

One of our clients, a technology company developing digital products and platforms, is looking to hire a Consumer Apps Team Lead.

The company develops applications and supporting technology for end users and business customers. This role leads 6 engineers and owns consumer applications across web, iOS/Android and the backend services and APIs behind them, with responsibility for technical direction and delivery across several product lines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the applications team, including team structure, mentoring, recruitment and day-to-day delivery.
• Define engineering standards, architecture decisions and a consistent code review practice.
• Remain hands-on in development and code reviews, resolve complex technical issues and provide technical escalation support.
• Introduce and guide agentic development practices across design, coding, testing, deployment and sprint management.
• Own architecture across web, mobile, SDKs, backend services and APIs, supporting application and platform use cases.
• Take responsibility for application performance, reliability, release quality and the mobile app-store lifecycle.
• Set technical and delivery priorities across product lines, making trade-offs with business stakeholders, customers, partners and leadership.
• Balance consumer application development with operator and administration tools used by customers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading a team; experience spanning both web and mobile is preferred.
• A track record of end-to-end ownership of a consumer, B2B2C or B2C application, covering architecture, app-store releases and iteration after launch.
• Hands-on production experience at meaningful scale with React or Angular, native or wrapped mobile applications, Node, MongoDB or PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, AWS and CDNs.
• Experience with event-based product analytics tools, such as Mixpanel or Segment, and translating business analytics needs into application capabilities.
• Experience working alongside other teams on shared platforms and technical contracts that require coordination.
