Mechanical Design Engineer

The development facility is located in the Sharon area, operating on a highly flexible hybrid model with three days working from home.

Role Description-

• Serving as the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (First Mechanical Engineer in the Company), reporting directly to the VP of R&D / R&D Manager, taking full 0-to-1 ownership of all mechanical design, packaging, and structural integration.
• Designing complete opto-mechanical systems, ruggedized environmental enclosures, brackets, mounts, structural assemblies, and multi-sensor integration platforms.
• Integrating advanced multidisciplinary subsystems: high-resolution cameras, optical payloads, electronics, compute modules, specialized connectors, cable harness routing, and electro-mechanical mechanisms.
• Driving comprehensive mechanical design for manufacturing: CNC machining (aluminum, stainless steel), precision sheet metal fabrication, and specialized production/finishing processes.
• Ensuring ruggedization and environmental compliance, including environmental sealing (IP ratings), thermal dissipation, surface treatments, coatings, and structural integrity.
• Leading mechanical integration and validation across diverse deployment topologies, including fixed ground installations, motorized/mobile platforms, and maritime environments.
• Performing tolerance stack-up analyses and applying rigorous Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles across all manufacturing drawings.

Requirements-

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering – Mandatory
• Proven track record in end-to-end Mechanical Design & Product Engineering for complex multidisciplinary/electronic systems – Mandatory
• Deep, daily mastery of SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailed manufacturing drafting – Mandatory
• Extensive, hands-on experience designing for CNC machining (Aluminum and Stainless Steel) and Sheet Metal fabrication – Mandatory
• Deep technical proficiency in tolerances, GD&T, environmental sealing (gaskets, O-rings, IP standards), and protective surface coatings/platings – Mandatory
• Hands-on experience integrating multidisciplinary payloads (optics/sensors, electronics boards, cable harnesses, and electro-mechanical hardware) – Mandatory
• High ownership, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to thrive as the sole domain owner in an early-stage startup environment – Mandatory
