We are early enough that every strong hire shapes the company, and we are looking for a Product Manager who wants this purpose more than the title.

The role -

You will join the product team and report to the CEO and will hold full visibility of R&D resources and capacity across the company. Prioritizing what we build for our customers is the product's responsibility; for the internal tools colleagues build for their own work, the job is to support them with product skill rather than to decide for them. That visibility is what makes product a strategic voice in planning - weekly, quarterly and yearly - helping the executive team and operations moderate planning across the company. It is a business role as much as a product one: we expect you to adopt a view of the whole business, in addition to the traditional view of a product manager.

What you will do -

As part of the product team, you will prioritize what we build for our customers, support colleagues building the internal tools they need, and hold the picture of capacity that makes company-wide planning possible. The responsibilities include:

• The product itself. Own how it feels to cook with Vinst and to turn a lifetime of recipes into a cookbook — from the first spark of inspiration through to the printed book on the shelf. This is what our customers actually meet, and it is where most of your time will go.
• Helping colleagues build their own tools. AI is for everyone to build with. A colleague in creative, social, sales or operations is the real expert in their own work, and usually needs a narrow tool that fits it exactly rather than a general, third-party one built for everybody. You bring the product skill to those efforts: helping them frame the problem, narrow it honestly, and recognize when a tool is good enough to stop.
• Holding the picture for planning. Product has full visibility of resources and capacity across the company, not only R&D. In weekly, quarterly and yearly planning, you will be instrumental in bringing that picture to the executive team and help moderate the conversation - where capacity actually is, what it is committed to, and what a new commitment would cost elsewhere.
• Building to think. Prototype your own ideas. A working thing you built in an afternoon settles an argument that a document would not, and it is the fastest way to make your case.

Who you are -

• Driven by the purpose — this matters most. You care about improving the food system through home cooking. You understand taste and the values behind cooking at home, and you cook in some capacity. 
• Open mind, team player. AI has challenged many assumptions about how businesses work. We adapt when the evidence calls for it, and see that change as a shared responsibility. We look for people who find that energizing, not threatening, and help others adapt too.
• You build. You are fluent with AI coding tools and you use them to make real things, not only to draft. If an idea can be tested in an afternoon, you would rather test it than argue about it.
• Scientific background. A degree in a science discipline is required. With AI, the connection between user experience and problem complexity is tighter, so Occam’s razor is practically applied in product development. In particular, the understanding of Complexity and Statistical Learning Theory excites us, as we find it valuable for efficient prioritization, precise problem definition, and choosing the right solution for the task.
• Experience. 2–3 years as a product manager or as an engineer.
• Craft and communication. You write clearly and briefly. You can hold your own with designers on interaction detail and with engineers on feasibility, and you keep the team pointed at the same outcome. You can step in and do whatever is needed, but you aim to spend your time where it has the most leverage: on strategy, priorities, and decisions - rather than building things others can own well.
