About Tiltan
Tiltan School of Design and Visual Communication was founded in 1994 and sits on the Haifa Port Campus, next to HaShmona station. The School of Game Design and Development runs a 3-year degree program that trains designers, developers and artists for the games industry.
We are looking for a lecturer to teach Experience Design — the craft of game feel — so students learn why some games feel great to play, and how to make theirs feel that way too.
The Role
The lecturer joins the Game Design and Development department faculty.
The Experience Design Lecturer teaches students how to make games feel responsive, satisfying and immersive: from input handling and camera work to juice, feedback and polish. The course mixes a hands-on approach with a strong theoretical foundation, teaching techniques and pipelines and applying them to students' own prototypes and projects.
Responsibilities
- Teach the Experience Design course: lectures, live demos and in-class tuning workshops
- Develop and update the syllabus, assignments, example projects and grading rubrics
- Guide student teams as they polish the feel of their year and final projects
- Review student builds and give concrete feedback on responsiveness, feedback and feel
- Adapt exercises so Art, Dev and Game Design students each contribute from their own discipline
- Bring in industry guests where possible
- Assess students and submit grades by the college's standards
What the course covers
The course takes students from "it works" to "it feels great".
- Foundations of game feel: what makes controls feel tight, heavy, floaty or responsive, and how to talk about it
- Input and responsiveness: input latency, input buffering, coyote time, jump grace, dead zones and response curves
- Movement and physics tuning: acceleration, friction, jump arcs, variable jump height, custom gravity
- Juice and feedback: screen shake, hit-stop, squash and stretch, particles, flashes and knockback
- Camera: follow, look-ahead, damping, framing and camera shake done right
- Animation and timing: anticipation, follow-through, easing curves and tweening
- Audio feedback: layering, pitch variation and syncing sound with action
- UI and moment-to-moment feedback: diegetic UI, damage numbers, readable hits and pickups
- Immersion and flow: consistency, pacing, rhythm and avoiding feedback overload
- Polish pipeline: tuning variables, iteration loops, playtesting feel, and knowing when to stop
- Experience across platforms: VR, mobile, etc.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on industry experience as a game designer, gameplay programmer or technical designer, with a focus on game feel
- Shipped titles (free games included), or a portfolio showing controls, feedback and polish you designed or implemented
- Deep practical knowledge of input handling (buffering, latency, coyote time) and juice techniques
- Hands-on experience tuning feel in Unity or Unreal
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to demonstrate techniques live
- Good professional English
Advantages
- Teaching or mentoring experience, in academia, bootcamps or in-studio training
- Experience across genres: action, platformers, shooters, fighting or racing games
- Background in PC games and/or consoles
- Experience with VR comfort and presence
- Skills in VFX, animation or game audio
- Published talks, articles or devlogs on game feel (e.g. GDC)
- Bachelor's degree in game design, computer science, animation or a related field
- Master's degree or higher in a relevant field
- Hebrew speaker
Terms
- Position: part-time lecturer (hourly)
- Weekly hours: 3 academic hours per week
- Schedule: flexible teaching day, evening hours (between 16:45–21:20)
- Students: Game Design students with the possiblity of Game Dev & 3D Art students
- Location: Tiltan campus, Haifa Port. On-premise for Israeli candidates, remote for non-residents
- Start date: 15/11/2026, first semester of the 2nd year
How to apply
Use LinkedIn Quick Apply and attach your CV, a short cover letter and a link to your portfolio — ideally short videos or playable builds that show game feel work you did.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview and a short teaching demo of 15–20 minutes.
