About Us 

At nT-Tao, we are building a compact magnetic confinement fusion power system: a modular, repeatable unit designed to deliver clean electricity on-site, on- or off-grid.  

Founded in 2019, nT-Tao raised $34 million to date from Honda, East X Ventures, Delek US, NextGear Ventures, and others. The Israel Innovation Authority has awarded us repeated grants, most recently to build our next compact fusion demonstrator.  

We are looking for a hands-on team lead of Power Electronics to lead the design, development, integration, and commissioning of high-power and pulsed-power systems for our fusion platform and laboratory infrastructure. 

The role combines deep technical ownership with team leadership. You will work closely with physicists, mechanical engineers, software engineers, lab teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective power electronics solutions for demanding experimental and future commercial systems. 

This role may also be a strong fit for an experienced senior engineer, technical lead, or project leader who has not yet held a formal team-lead position but has demonstrated technical leadership, ownership of complex projects, and the ability to guide and coordinate others.

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead the development and commissioning of multi-MW power electronics and pulsed-power generators driving tens of kA and kV through magnetic coils. 
• Lead and mentor the power electronics and electrical engineering team; define priorities, manage work plans, and report progress, risks, budgets, and timelines to R&D and company management. 
• Own the design, procurement, construction, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of power electronics hardware and supporting control, diagnostics, and automation software. 
• Design and optimize power conversion, charging, switching, energy-storage, inverter, driver, controller, and passive-component solutions. 
• Select components and architectures that support reliable, scalable, manufacturable, and cost-effective systems. 
• Collaborate with physics, mechanical engineering, software, and laboratory teams to support system integration, experimental operations, design reviews, and continuous upgrades. 
• Establish engineering methodologies, testing procedures, documentation standards, schematics, commissioning reports, and design-review practices. 
• Manage technical work with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturing partners, including SOW definition and technical oversight. 
• Support the transition of systems from R&D prototypes toward scalable and manufacturable designs. 

Required Qualifications and Skills 

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 
• 4+ years of experience in power electronics, pulsed-power systems, or high-power electrical systems, including hands-on engineering leadership. 
• Strong experience in design, manufacturing, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of high-voltage and high-current DC and AC systems. 
• Expertise with solid-state switches such as IGBTs, SCRs, FETs, SiC, and GaN. 
• Experience with power inverters, converters, charging systems, capacitor banks, energy-storage systems, and pulsed-power architectures. 
• Knowledge of magnetics, including high-frequency transformer and inductor design. 
• Understanding of capacitor selection, derating, reliability, and system-level integration considerations. 
• Experience designing or working with high-voltage and high-current PCBs. 
• Strong laboratory measurement skills, including oscilloscopes and high-voltage/high-current probing solutions. 
• System integration and troubleshooting capability in multidisciplinary R&D or deep-tech environments. 
• Experience with tools such as PSIM, LTSpice, KiCAD, Altium, MATLAB, Python, and Microsoft Office, or similar. 
• Excellent communication, documentation, collaboration, and English writing/speaking skills.
