Statistician

A leading public-sector organization is seeking an experienced Statistician to join its Economics & Statistics Division.

We are looking for a highly analytical professional with a strong academic and methodological background in statistics, combined with hands-on experience in statistical modeling, forecasting and advanced quantitative analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, validate and review statistical and predictive models

Conduct complex statistical analyses on large-scale datasets

Develop forecasting models, indicators and simulations to support decision-making

Perform impact evaluation and effectiveness measurement

Analyze panel and longitudinal data and identify trends and patterns over time

Review statistical methodologies and identify potential biases, measurement issues and model limitations

Apply advanced statistical methods, Machine Learning and Data Science methodologies where relevant

Evaluate models in terms of accuracy, stability and robustness

Translate complex organizational and policy questions into statistical and analytical solutions

Serve as a professional and methodological knowledge resource for analysts and other stakeholders

Work closely with multiple internal and external professional interfaces

Requirements

M.Sc. or higher in Statistics, Econometrics, Quantitative Economics, Data Science, Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field - strong preference

At least 5 years of hands-on experience in statistical analysis and model development

Strong knowledge of statistical methodologies and quantitative research

Proven experience developing predictive and/or statistical models

Experience working with large and complex datasets

Proficiency in Python and/or R

Experience with panel/longitudinal data - advantage

Experience in impact evaluation/effectiveness measurement - significant advantage

Experience with Machine Learning methodologies - advantage

Research experience - significant advantage

Experience in a research environment, consulting firm, financial institution, defense company, large organization or public sector - advantage

High proficiency in Hebrew and English
