Lead Engineer, Test Systems and Automation

We are looking for a Lead Engineer, Test Systems and Automation to own the architecture, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of the software and automation systems behind our production and test lines.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining software development, test-system architecture, equipment integration, automation, and data infrastructure. The goal is to build reliable systems that enable continuous operation, remote monitoring and control, engineering analysis, and scalable production testing.

This is a founding role with end-to-end ownership and a rare opportunity to build critical capabilities from the ground up, shape the technical direction, and grow a small team around the function.

Responsibilities:

• Own the architecture and development of software and automation systems supporting production and test environments.
• Build the data flow from test equipment to local infrastructure and cloud, including data models, interfaces, and traceability.
• Integrate fab and foundry data with test results, enabling traceability at wafer, die, and device level.
• Develop engineering applications, dashboards, and visualization tools for yield analysis, engineering investigation, and line monitoring.
• Build automation capabilities including sequencing, live status, early abort, retest, recovery, remote control, and unattended operation.
• Develop a reusable test-system framework connecting equipment, applications, automation, test programs, and data.
• Design robust equipment interfaces, data acquisition, logging, diagnostics, and fault-recovery mechanisms.
• Establish strong software engineering practices including Git, design and code reviews, configuration management, deployment, release documentation, and rollback planning.
• Work closely with Software, Hardware, Firmware, Systems, Test, NPI, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and external partners.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of hands-on experience developing complex software, automation, or test-system platforms used in R&D, manufacturing, or production or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on development experience in Python and/or LabVIEW. Python proficiency is preferred; experience with both is a strong advantage.
• Hands-on experience developing software that controls or integrates physical equipment, instruments or automated systems.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, equipment interfaces, sequencing, data acquisition, logging, diagnostics, and fault recovery.
• Experience with data modelling and pipeline design supporting analysis at multiple levels of granularity.
• Experience building data-facing applications, dashboards or engineering tools used by other users.
• Ability to design modular, maintainable systems that can scale from development into production.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing environments.
