The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who can own the mechanical development of our flagship device end-to-end — from early sketches, through prototyping, all the way to production.

You’ll work directly with founders, industrial designers, and R&D teams as we turn ambitious concepts into a military-ready product.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced environment where decisions move quickly and your engineering will directly shape the product soldiers depend on.

What You’ll Do

• Lead mechanical design of a rugged handheld electronic device from concept to manufacturing.
• Create assemblies, 3D models, and production-ready drawings with speed and precision.
• Integrate mechanical, electronic, and optical systems inside a compact, durable enclosure.
• Engineer for extreme conditions: shock, drop, vibration, thermal cycles, dust, moisture.
• Ensure design meets relevant military standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, etc.).
• Drive prototyping, testing, and rapid iteration cycles.
• Work closely with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and cost-effective production.
• Collaborate daily with industrial design and electrical engineering to deliver a cohesive product.

What You Bring

• ~7-10 years of experience designing rugged, compact electronics in the defense field.
• Background in defense, military hardware, or ruggedized electronics is a must.
• Expertise in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, similar).
• Strong understanding of materials, sealing, thermal design, shock/vibration protection, and DFM/DFX.
• Hands-on approach: prototyping, testing, problem-solving on the bench.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with quick decisions and high ownership.

Bonus Points

• Experience with soldier-worn, weapon-mounted systems.
• FEA experience for structural or thermal simulations.
• Experience working directly with manufacturers (domestic or overseas).
