Role Description

Eden Gallery is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join the legal department as a full-time, in-house member of the team, based at our offices in Israel. This is a hands-on role for a lawyer who will work within the legal department on a broad portfolio of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters across an international art business, supporting the management of a global network of external counsel, and acting as a trusted advisor to leadership and staff. The Legal Counsel will report directly to the GC and will be a key point of contact for legal matters affecting the gallery worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial

• Draft, negotiate, and review the full range of commercial agreements, including sales and purchase agreements, consignment agreements, loan and exhibition agreements, and licensing arrangements.
• Manage vendor, supplier, logistics, insurance, and shipping contracts on a worldwide basis.

Intellectual Property

• Advise on intellectual property matters, including artist rights, licensing, copyright, and brand protection.
• Protect the gallery's and artists' IP across jurisdictions, including enforcement and registration strategy where relevant.

Employment / HR

• Serve as the primary legal advisor on all employment matters across every jurisdiction in which the gallery has staff, including hiring, contracts, terminations, disciplinary matters, and workplace policies.
• Partner closely with HR/management on employee relations issues, ensuring consistent, compliant practices worldwide.
• Draft and update employment agreements, employee handbooks, and internal policies in line with local law in each relevant country.

Privacy & Data Protection

• Own the gallery's global privacy program, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws (e.g., Israeli Privacy Protection Law, GDPR, and other relevant regimes) across all markets served.
• Draft and maintain privacy policies, data processing agreements, and consent frameworks for clients, artists, and employees.

Regulatory & Compliance

• Design, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies, procedures, and training across the organization.

Dispute Resolution & Risk

• Manage disputes, claims, and litigation/arbitration matters globally, directly or through outside counsel.
• Conduct legal risk assessments on new business initiatives, markets, and transactions, and advise leadership accordingly.

Corporate & Governance

• Advise on corporate structure, governance, board matters, and entity management across all jurisdictions in which the gallery operates.
• Oversee corporate filings, resolutions, shareholder matters, and cross-border entity formation and restructuring.

External Counsel & Internal Partnership

• Support the selection, instruction, and management of a network of external counsel across multiple jurisdictions worldwide, in coordination with the General Counsel, ensuring quality, consistency, and cost-effective delivery of legal services.
• Act as an accessible, business-minded legal partner to employees and management at all levels, translating complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance.

Qualifications

• LL.B. / J.D. and admission to practice law (Israeli Bar membership preferred; additional jurisdictional qualifications a plus).
• Dual qualification / admission in both Israel and the United States is a strong advantage.
• 4+ years of relevant legal experience, including law firm training; in-house experience is an advantage. Demonstrated ownership of a broad legal portfolio.
• Proven experience advising on corporate, regulatory, commercial, privacy, and employment matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience managing outside counsel relationships on an international basis.
• Fluent in English and Hebrew (additional languages an advantage).
• Excellent judgment, discretion, and integrity, with a strong sense of ownership and a hands-on, pragmatic approach.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working as part of the legal department and as a trusted advisor across the organization.
• Availability for full-time, in-house work at the gallery's offices in Israel.
• Comfortable and proficient working with AI tools (e.g., AI-assisted contract review, legal research, and drafting platforms) to increase efficiency, turnaround time, and quality across the legal function.
