Product Specialist - Legal

Rainmaker is a growing legaltech startup developing an AI-native deal management platform for corporate and M&A lawyers. It runs the full transaction from term sheet to close, replacing the fragmented stack of Word, email, spreadsheets, and data rooms with a single deal-native workspace that combines a precedent system, deal workflow, and agents that execute tasks end to end.

The ideal candidate for this role has a background in corporate/M&A law, and experience in product or client facing roles in tech. This could also be a good fit for a corporate/M&A lawyer who is seeking an entry point into the startup world, with an interest in product roles. 

You'll leverage your domain expertise to make lawyers successful with Rainmaker and to make our product experience and AI systems better across diverse legal tasks. You'll split your time across three areas:

Client enablement (on-site). You'll spend time remotely and in our customers' offices working directly with associates and partners: onboarding new users, showing them how to get real value out of the product, and building trust in our product. 

Product Ownership. You'll come back with a clear picture of what's working, what isn't, and what users are asking for, and you'll directly work with the product and engineering teams to implement that feedback and improve our product.

Optimization of AI systems. You'll design and build sample legal tasks and their expected outcomes, and use our internal tooling to run tests, analyze where the system could be improved, and work with the engineering team to improve it.

• A qualified lawyer with 1-4 years of transactional experience (M&A, VC financings, or similar) at a top-tier law firm.
• Ownership mentality and self-management: You'll be expected to own your domain independently, take initiative, and manage your own time and assignments with minimal oversight. However, this doesn't mean you won't be provided with mentorship, guidance and the tools to succeed.
• Excellent interpersonal skills: Someone who is comfortable in front of clients, including senior partners, and can teach and collect feedback in a patient and professional manner.
• Tech-savvy: You do not need to know how to code or understand software engineering principles, but you should be familiar with AI at a high level, and comfortable using AI tools to streamline your work, learning new concepts, and working within a highly technological environment.
• Analytical and systematic: Building evaluation datasets, testing, and optimizing systems means thinking rigorously about what "correct" means and designing tests that actually measure it.
• Fluent English.
• Willingness to travel to client offices, including internationally.

Nice to have:

• Experience in a customer-facing or product role at a tech startup.
• Experience with legaltech tools or AI products in a professional setting, including any hands-on exposure to LLMs, prompt design, or workflow building.
• Experience with data analysis.
