ביואינפורמטיקאי/ת לחצי משרה במעבדה של פרופ' יובל טבח עם תקן אקדמי

This is a half-time, on-site bioinformatician position with academic rank in the laboratory of Prof. Yuval Tabach at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The role involves designing and conducting bioinformatics analyses, including processing and interpreting high-throughput sequencing data and other large-scale biological datasets. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and maintaining computational pipelines, collaborating with experimental researchers to integrate computational and wet-lab results, and contributing to scientific publications and grant applications. The bioinformatician will participate in lab meetings, present findings to the research team, and help train students in basic computational methods.

Qualifications

• Strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a closely related field, with experience analyzing genomic, transcriptomic, or other omics data.
• Proficiency in relevant programming or scripting languages (such as Python, R, or similar) and familiarity with standard bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Solid understanding of molecular biology concepts and experimental design, enabling effective collaboration with wet-lab researchers.
• Experience working in a Linux/Unix computing environment, including use of command-line tools, version control, and basic system navigation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage datasets, document workflows, and maintain reproducible analytical pipelines.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail in data quality and interpretation.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English; Hebrew proficiency is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team, and to manage time effectively in a half-time academic role.
• Master’s degree or PhD (or nearing completion) in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics, or related discipline; relevant research experience is highly beneficial.
