Job Description: Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer

• Overview

Microtech is seeking a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of a cardiovascular implant, including its integration and delivery interfaces.

The role requires independent ownership of complex engineering problems, from problem analysis and concept development through prototyping, verification, and product improvement.

The position combines strong analytical capabilities and a solid foundation in engineering principles with hands-on design, prototype assembly, and laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead implant design workstreams from problem definition and concept generation through testing and verification.
• Develop and evaluate mechanical concepts using engineering calculations, FEA, tolerance analysis, and material characterization.
• Develop prototypes and conduct bench, simulated-use, and mechanical verification testing; analyze results and translate them into design decisions.
• Lead design reviews and root-cause investigations through documented resolution.
• Support preclinical evaluation of implant performance under representative anatomical and physiological conditions.
• Develop assembly methods with supporting tools, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant mechanical product-development experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and detailed engineering drawings; SolidWorks and PDM experience is preferred.
• Experience developing medical devices within an ISO 13485-compliant quality system and design-control environment.
• Preferred Experience
• Catheter-based systems and Class III implantable medical devices.
• Precision machinery, fixtures, and tooling for R&D or production support.
