Mechanical Practical Engineer – Technical Project Management

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join a role that combines technical and manufacturing expertise with hands-on task and project ownership.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with approximately 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, a solid understanding of engineering processes and concepts, and the motivation to take the next step into a role with greater responsibility, independence, ownership, and exposure to a global working environment.

This is not a traditional mechanical design role. You will work closely with NPI and Manufacturing Engineers, serving as their hands-on execution partner in driving technical and operational activities forward. You will receive technical assignments, understand the requirements and implications, bring together the relevant stakeholders, and take ownership of driving each task through execution and closure.

What will you do?

• Own and drive technical and manufacturing-related tasks from initial definition through execution and closure.
• Work closely with NPI and Manufacturing Engineers, supporting the execution and operational aspects of their projects.
• Manage multiple tasks and dependencies simultaneously, tracking progress across different stakeholders.
• Collaborate regularly with engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, Procurement, Quality, Operations, and other cross-functional teams.
• Work directly with overseas manufacturers and Contract Manufacturers, following up on execution, production readiness, open issues, and corrective actions.
• Support NPI and product transfer processes from development into manufacturing, including EVT/DVT/PVT stages through mass production.
• Track engineering changes and ECO/MCO processes, BOMs, 2D/3D drawings, and documentation releases for manufacturing.
• Drive activities related to tooling, fixtures, materials, and other dependencies required to keep manufacturing activities moving forward.
• Support the tracking and closure of manufacturing and quality issues together with the relevant professional teams.
• Identify blockers and delays, determine what is needed to move forward, engage the right stakeholders, and escalate when necessary.
• Use Excel, PLM/ERP systems, and other tools to manage and track tasks, information, and processes.

What are we looking for?

• Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma – required.
• Approximately 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, NPI, manufacturing engineering, or other relevant technical environment.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to understand technical requirements and assignments.
• Ability to read and understand 2D/3D mechanical drawings.
• Familiarity with NPI and product transfer from development to manufacturing – a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with ECO/MCO processes, BOMs, and PLM/ERP systems – an advantage.
• Familiarity with tooling, fixtures, quality processes, and manufacturing problem-solving – an advantage.
• Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers, or Contract Manufacturers – a strong advantage.
• Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft tools.
• Very good English, including the ability to communicate effectively and participate in meetings with overseas manufacturers and global stakeholders.
• Flexibility to work with teams and partners in Asia and to work additional hours when required.

You will also need to stay organized in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and frequent changes. Not every process is already fully defined, so the ability to learn quickly, create structure, pay attention to details, and understand when to move independently and when to raise a flag is important.
