Group controller - Relocation to Africa

A construction and technology corporate group operating in West Africa is seeking a Group Financial Controller to oversee and manage the group’s end-to-end accounting operations: manage local payroll, perform ongoing bank reconciliations, accurately record financial transactions in the general ledger, oversee procurement, and manage inventory control.

The position requires accuacy, strong organizational skills, the ability to collaborate with both local and international stakeholders, and strict adherence to accounting procedures, regulatory compliance, and tight deadlines.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Economics
• MBA – An advantage

Experience

• 3–5 years of experience as a Financial Controller/ Assistant
• Experience in engineering, infrastructure, or construction companies – Significant advantage
• Prior work or relocation experience in Africa or emerging markets – An advantage
• Experience collaborating with international, multicultural teams

Key Responsibilities

• Manage local payroll processes, including compliance with local statutory requirements and timely reporting to relevant authorities.
• Perform ongoing bank reconciliations across group accounts and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Accurately record financial data in company books in accordance with accounting standards.
• Oversee the group’s procurement lifecycle, including purchase order verification, approvals, and budget tracking.
• Manage inventory control processes.
• Work closely with corporate finance leadership at HQ and on-site project teams.
• Assist with periodic financial statement preparation and supporting month/quarter/year-end closing processes.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and local regulatory requirements.
• Reporting directly to the Group CFO.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse stakeholders (employees, vendors, and executive management)
• Willingness to commit to a long-term family relocation to West Africa
