Engineering Project Manager

Company Description Polygon is an engineering company specializing in the development, design, and manufacturing of custom machinery (Special Purpose Machinery) and complex automation systems for clients in medical devices, defense, and general industry. The company leads end-to-end turnkey projects—from understanding customer requirements and initial concept design, through mechanical engineering, controls, procurement, and manufacturing, to assembly, integration, and on-site delivery.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with at least 10 years of combined experience in mechanical design and project management to lead and coordinate several complex engineering projects simultaneously, from inception to delivery.

This role integrates classical project management, engineering leadership, direct client engagement, and multidisciplinary coordination across all company interfaces (R&D, controls, procurement, finance, manufacturing, and assembly).

This is a pivotal role requiring deep technical expertise alongside a hands-on approach when needed.

Responsibilities & Authority

• Project Management & Integration: Lead end-to-end projects with overall accountability for milestones, schedules, risk management, budget, and quality.

• Cross-Functional Interface Management: Coordinate and integrate work with mechanical design and R&D teams, PLC/controls engineers, procurement, finance (budgets and costing), manufacturing, assembly, and integration.
• Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary focal point for clients—managing status meetings, presenting concepts, troubleshooting issues, and aligning technical and commercial expectations.
• Pre-Sale & Quotation Phases: Analyze customer requirements, formulate initial machine concepts, estimate resources and schedules, and participate in pricing and technical proposal preparation alongside finance and executive management.
• Hands-on Engineering Involvement: Solve technical challenges throughout design, manufacturing, and integration; capability to perform specific CAD modeling tasks, evaluate mechanisms, and create layouts/illustrations as required.

Requirements

• Education: B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering – Mandatory (graduates from leading academic institutions preferred).
• Professional Experience: 10+ years of combined experience in mechanical design and engineering project management within machinery, automation, or integrated systems (robotics, pneumatics, servo, motion, and controls) – Mandatory.
• Design Background: Deep mechanical design and machine-building knowledge; strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software).
• Resource & Interface Management: Proven track record in leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and finance.
• Languages: High-level proficiency in Hebrew and English (reading, writing, and speaking).

Advantages

• Prior experience managing and leading R&D teams (5+ people).
• Prior background in companies developing and manufacturing custom-made / turnkey assembly machinery.
• Experience leading projects within the Medical/Pharma or Defense sectors.
• Familiarity with Machine Vision, control systems, Motion Control, and robotics.
• Experience drafting technical proposals, bills of materials (BOM), and engineering cost calculations.
