Artlist is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our new Platform Infrastructure team.

In this foundational role, you’ll help build the shared backend systems, frameworks, and tooling that power every product across the company.

• 6+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Node.js in a production environment.
• Proven experience designing or maintaining shared backend systems (e.g., internal tooling, platform-level services, microservices, or APIs).
• Strong understanding of complex system design and application architecture — multiple services, offline processes, queues and topics, scale, performance, and error handling — backed by strong problem-solving skills, a solid investigation methodology, and an algorithmic mindset.
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments — AWS or equivalent (e.g., GCP, Azure) — including deploying, managing, and scaling backend services.
• Experience across a range of databases (SQL, NoSQL, key-value, and others), including designing schemas, optimizing queries, and ensuring data integrity.
• Experience working on internal platforms or infrastructure initiatives is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ownership and ability to lead projects end to end — working both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders, mentoring other engineers, and managing your own priorities and deadlines.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and building for performance, reliability, and security.
• A passion for clean code and developer experience, an independent and fast-learning mindset, and genuine enthusiasm for leveraging AI in day-to-day work and complex problem solving.
