Head of Information Systems - Capital Markets

A leading and well-established financial organization is looking for an experienced Head of Investment Systems to lead a strategic technology domain supporting complex investment management and trading operations.

The role offers the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team, drive strategic initiatives, and work closely with senior business stakeholders to shape the organization's investment technology landscape.

This role requires a unique combination of deep hands-on technology expertise in financial systems and proven leadership managing multidisciplinary technology teams.

Responsibilities:

• Strategic Departmental Leadership: Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary technology organization (approximately 15–20 professionals), including team leads, system analysts, project managers, and external vendors.
• System Architecture & Integration: Lead the design, implementation, integration, and continuous evolution of complex investment and financial platforms, ensuring high availability and operational excellence.
• Hands-on Technology Leadership: Serve as the senior technical authority, bridging business requirements with scalable technology solutions while remaining closely involved in architecture and complex technical challenges.
• Planning & Execution: Own the domain roadmap, annual work plan, resource allocation, vendor management, and budget planning.
• Stakeholder Management: Partner closely with investment teams, portfolio managers, finance, operations, and senior business stakeholders.
• Operations & Risk: Ensure regulatory compliance, information security, production stability, and operational resilience across critical financial systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in financial technology organizations.
• 5+ years managing multidisciplinary technology teams within the financial sector.
• Strong technology background – the ideal candidate has grown from software development, system analysis, architecture, or engineering into leadership.
• Proven experience working with investment management systems, capital markets, trading platforms, or other core investment applications within banks, insurance companies, asset managers, or investment firms.
• Strong expertise in enterprise architecture, APIs, system integrations, and complex enterprise environments.
• Ability to combine strategic leadership with a strong hands-on approach.
• Deep understanding of financial services and investment business processes.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

Nice to Have

Experience leading large-scale modernization initiatives or migrating legacy financial platforms.

Experience with financial regulatory frameworks (SOX, Information Security standards, etc.).
