Optical Design Engineer

A leading advanced optics technology company is looking for an Optical Design Engineer to lead complex optical projects from concept and architecture through design, simulation, prototyping, experiments, and validation.

The company develops advanced optical display technologies for demanding real-world applications, combining imaging, illumination, precision optics, optical engineering, and multidisciplinary product development. This is a highly technical role with direct impact on the design and performance of next-generation optical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead optical projects from concept and architecture through design, simulation, prototyping, experiments, and validation.
• Design and develop advanced Imaging and Illumination systems in the visible-light domain.
• Evaluate and compare different optical architectures.
• Solve complex optical challenges related to aberrations, stray light, ghost images, polarization, and efficiency.
• Define optical specifications, tolerances, experimental methodologies, and validation processes.
• Develop calculation and automation tools for optical analysis and optimization.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across product development stages.
• Independently lead complex technological challenges from idea to practical solution.

Required Qualifications

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field – must.
• Deep understanding of geometrical and physical optics – must.
• Proven experience in optical system design, simulation, or development – must.
• Strong analytical capabilities and ability to solve complex problems independently – must.
• Good proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB – must.
• Professional-level Hebrew and English – must.
