Electro-Optics Development Engineer

🚀 A leading technology company is seeking a Physics / Electro-Optics Development Engineer to join its R&D team.

The role focuses on the definition, selection, characterization, and integration of critical electro-optical components within advanced products, including lasers, thermal imaging systems, day/night optics, displays, laser rangefinders, and other electro-optical components.

This is a highly technical and multidisciplinary position, combining engineering responsibility, hands-on testing and characterization, supplier management, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Leadership

• Define technical requirements for critical electro-optical components based on product and system requirements.
• Lead the selection, characterization, and qualification of components according to performance, reliability, and cost requirements.
• Support the design and integration of components into subsystems and complete systems.
• Analyze and solve complex engineering challenges in optics and electro-optics.
• Provide technical expertise throughout the product development lifecycle.

Supplier Management

• Maintain professional relationships with suppliers in Israel and internationally.
• Lead supplier evaluation, technology scouting, market surveys, and technical comparisons.
• Support and lead co-development activities with suppliers when required.
• Define and manage technical specifications and ensure supplier compliance with requirements.

Testing & Characterization

• Define test methods and procedures for electro-optical components and subsystems.
• Plan, conduct, and analyze characterization tests and experiments.
• Define requirements for test equipment and laboratory infrastructure.
• Document test results and translate findings into engineering conclusions and recommendations.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Physics, Electro-Optics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of proven experience in the development of electro-optical components or systems.
• Deep technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: lasers, day/night optics, thermal imaging systems, displays, or electro-optical sensors.
• Experience working with international suppliers.
• Experience in engineering team leadership – a significant advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary R&D environment and under tight schedules.
• Strong communication and technical leadership skills.
