Accounting Manager

About the role:

A growing private company in Central Israel is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager / Chief Bookkeeper to take ownership of the company’s day-to-day accounting operations and play a key role in building and strengthening its finance function.

This is a broad, hands-on position for an experienced accounting professional who is ready for the next step in their career — expanding beyond traditional bookkeeping responsibilities and gradually taking on broader financial management responsibilities.

The role offers significant professional growth and the opportunity to develop into a broader finance leadership position over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for bookkeeping through trial balance.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections and customer billing.
• Perform and supervise bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and oversee statutory reports, including VAT, Income Tax, withholding tax and National Insurance.
• Manage and monitor the company’s ongoing cash flow.
• Work closely with payroll and oversee payroll-related controls.
• Professionally manage and support the bookkeeping team.
• Work directly with external accountants, tax advisors, banks and relevant authorities.
• Build and improve accounting procedures, internal controls and financial workflows.
• Support management with accurate and timely financial information.

As the role develops, responsibilities will gradually expand to include budgeting and control, forecasting, P&L analysis, profitability analysis, financial planning and management reporting.

Requirements

• Significant experience in bookkeeping through trial balance – required.
• Strong hands-on experience with Israeli statutory reporting – required.
• Experience with monthly and annual closing processes – required.
• Hands-on cash flow management experience – required.
• Experience managing or professionally leading an accounting/bookkeeping team – required.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes – significant advantage.
• High proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.
• Experience with Priority ERP – significant advantage.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis – advantage.
• Experience in a multi-site, retail, hospitality, food service, restaurant or other operational environment – significant advantage.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and operate effectively in a dynamic and evolving environment.
