Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist to join GE Vernova’s AI research team in Herzliya.

This role is offered through a third-party employment arrangement. As part of a globally distributed research organization, you will contribute to the development of state-of-the-art AI solutions for robotics, industrial inspection, and intelligent automation. The role focuses on advancing computer vision and multimodal AI technologies, leveraging deep learning, vision-language models (VLMs), large language models (LLMs), and foundation models to solve challenging real-world industrial problems.

You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and business teams across GE Vernova’s global research centers and business units to develop innovative AI technologies and transition them into impactful industrial applications. You will also provide technical leadership for research programs and AI solution development, helping shape future technology directions and driving innovation from concept to deployment.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct applied research and advanced development in computer vision and multimodal AI

- Design, develop, and evaluate state-of-the-art deep learning models for industrial inspection and robotics applications

- Develop solutions that combine visual, language, and other sensor modalities

- Explore and apply modern AI approaches including vision-language models, large language models, multimodal foundation models, and foundation models

- Lead experimental design, model development, benchmarking, and performance analysis

- Provide technical leadership for research programs and AI technology development across multiple projects

- Collaborate with researchers, software engineers, domain experts, and business stakeholders across global teams

- Contribute to technology roadmaps, intellectual property generation, and research publications

- Mentor junior researchers and engineers and contribute to capability development within the organization

- Support the deployment and integration of AI technologies into real-world industrial systems

- Stay current with emerging advances in AI, computer vision, and multimodal machine learning

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in:

- Computer Science

- Electrical Engineering

- Applied Mathematics

- Data Science

- Or a related field

- Minimum 3 years of post-Ph.D. research or industrial research experience

- Strong hands-on expertise in:

- Computer Vision

- Deep Learning

- Machine Learning

- Extensive experience developing AI solutions using modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch

- Strong Python programming skills

- Proven ability to design, train, evaluate, and optimize deep learning models

- Experience with multimodal foundation models, Vision-Language Models (VLMs), and VLM adaptation and/or fine-tuning

- Demonstrated ability to translate research ideas into deployed products, applications, or operational systems

- Proven record of independent research, technical innovation, and scientific problem solving

- Track record of publications, patents, or other significant research contributions

- Experience collaborating with external research partners, universities, government agencies, or industrial organizations

- Strong software engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication skills in English

- Ability and willingness to work in a global, cross-site collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Postdoctoral research experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field

- Experience with:

- Foundation Models

- Robotics or Autonomous Systems

- Experience applying AI to industrial inspection, manufacturing, energy, automation, or robotics domains

- Publications in leading AI, machine learning, computer vision, or robotics conferences and journals

- Experience leading technical research programs and mentoring researchers and engineers

- Experience generating patents and driving technology transfer into products

- Experience deploying AI solutions in production or real-world operational environments

- Demonstrated success working across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams
