We are looking for a System Engineer to contribute to the design and development of our products.
You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of hardware, software, and optical components, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and uphold high-quality standards throughout the system design process.
Responsibilities
- Lead system design, considering overall functionality, hardware-software integration, optical integration, and user experience.
- Support the definition, integration, and testing of optical components and subsystems, including cameras, lenses, displays, waveguides/combiners, IR illumination, optical filters, and other optical elements relevant to AR/XR systems.
- Define optical and lens specifications for external suppliers/subcontractors, including key parameters such as focal length, FOV, aperture/F-number, distortion, MTF, focus range, chief ray angle, wavelength range, mechanical constraints, tolerances, and environmental requirements.
- Review supplier optical designs and test results, support design trade-offs, and verify compliance with system-level optical requirements.
- Define and evaluate optical performance requirements and test methods, including parameters such as field of view, resolution, MTF, distortion, focus, brightness, contrast, uniformity, color performance, stray light, and optical alignment/calibration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, interfaces, and performance metrics.
- Generate project documentation, including system architecture diagrams and design specifications.
- Conduct analysis of user, business, and regulatory requirements to define clear and comprehensive system requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments, document risk management activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the system development process.
- Generate verification and validation plans to ensure the system meets performance, safety, optical, and regulatory requirements. Take part in defining V&V protocols, performing tests, analyzing results, and leading certification activities.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in optical component development and testing, including defining requirements, supplier specifications, test methods, and validation approaches for cameras, lenses, displays, illumination systems, and other optical components.
- At least 10 years of experience in system engineering within a multidisciplinary product development environment, preferably involving optical, mechanical, electrical, and software systems. Experience in the medical device industry is highly preferred.
