Master’s Student Wanted – Hereditary Cancer Genetics

A research opportunity is available for a motivated Master’s student to join a clinical-genetic study in the field of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

The project will focus on BRCA1/2 carriers in Israel and will examine patterns of cancer-prevention decision-making in the era of expanded genetic screening, using clinical data and big-data tools. The work will initially take place at the Genetic Institute, Kaplan Medical Center, Rehovot. Data analysis may be performed remotely. Courses will be taken at Ariel University.

The student will gain experience in:

·         Clinical genetics and hereditary cancer research

·         Medical records and clinical databases

·         Data organization and statistical analysis

·         IRB-regulated clinical research

·         Scientific writing and presentation

Requirements:

·         B.Sc. in life sciences, biology, molecular biology, genetics, medical sciences, public health, or a related field

·         High motivation, responsibility, and good organizational skills

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Background in genetics, statistics, or clinical research – advantage

·         Fluency in Hebrew and English

The project will be supervised by Dr. Rakefet Chen-Shtoyerman of the Adelson School of Medicine and the Department of Molecular Biology, and Prof. Orna Reges of the Department of Health Systems Management.
