R&D Lab Technician

We are seeking an R&D Lab Technician / integrator to join our team developing Augmented Reality glasses. The role combines electronic and mechanical assembly, functional testing, troubleshooting, and product certification and compliance testing.

This position requires a hands-on technician with strong soldering and mechanical integration skills, capable of working across component assembly, lab-based test and measurement, jig and fixture development, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering to support a hardware product from prototype through production.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble electronic and mechanical components, modules, and systems following engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions. Perform tasks such as soldering, wiring, mechanical assembly, and component integration.
• Operate laboratory equipment, instruments, and tools required for product assembly, testing, and verification.
• Conduct functional testing and verification of systems and modules using laboratory equipment and tools. Document and report test results accurately and maintain detailed records.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues, defects, or failures in electronic and mechanical systems. Use diagnostic tools and methodologies to isolate problems and perform or recommend corrective actions.
• Lead and carry out applicable product certification and compliance tests at certified laboratories, including EMC, FCC, and other relevant safety and regulatory tests.
• Participate in jig and fixture design and assembly.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, tools, and instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements and testing. Follow appropriate safety procedures and protocols during equipment usage and maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineers to communicate test results, provide feedback on design improvements, and contribute to the development of standardized testing procedures. Document and maintain accurate records of assembly processes, test procedures, and equipment maintenance.
• Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment in the laboratory. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, quality requirements, and applicable product regulations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency enhancement, and cost reduction. Propose ideas and contribute to the implementation of best practices in assembly, testing, and quality control procedures.

Experience Required:

• 5 years of experience as an R&D lab technician / integrator. - Must
• Associate degree or equivalent certification in Electrical, Optical or Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field. - Must
• Strong background in electronics and mechanics, including assembly techniques, soldering, wiring, alignment, adhesives and mechanical integration. - Must
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and tools for testing, measurement, and calibration. - Must
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions. – Must
• Experience in operating and maintaining 3D printers (FDM/SLA) - Must
• Ability to design simple parts and components in SolidWorks/Fusion360 for 3D printing - Must
• Experience in setting up and troubleshooting optical systems - Advantage
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and inspection techniques. - Advantage
• Proficiency in Arduino/ESP32/RPi - Advantage
