Business Operations (Relocation Opportunity)

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Country General Manager to lead the establishment and operation of a large-scale international cyber and AI training academy. As the most senior leader on the ground, you will own the project end to end – from operational setup and business management to academic delivery and stakeholder relations – serving as the primary link between the local team, regional management, and headquarters.

This is a builder's role for an executive who thrives in a start-up-like environment: combining P&L ownership, client and government relations, and day-to-day command of academic, technical, and operations teams.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the senior on-site leader of the academy, with overall responsibility for its successful setup, launch, and day-to-day operation.
• Own the academy's business operations end to end: budgeting, forecasting, cost control, procurement, and financial reporting to regional and HQ management.
• Lead and develop the in-country leadership team, including the academic, technical, and operations functions.
• Translate the overall program strategy into an executable country plan with clear milestones, KPIs, and accountability across all workstreams.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the local team, regional management, and headquarters support functions.
• Represent the organization with the client, government stakeholders, partners, and vendors, including formal reporting and steering forums.
• Oversee the establishment and running of academy facilities, classrooms, labs, equipment, and support services.
• Drive the embedding of advanced technologies across the academy – including training platforms, cyber ranges and labs, and AI-based tools – in collaboration with the technical lead and headquarters, ensuring they are fully integrated into curriculum delivery and daily operations.
• Ensure training programs launch on schedule, meet contractual commitments, and deliver the required quality and student outcomes.
• Establish operational routines: reporting cadences, risk management, escalation paths, and continuous improvement processes.
• Recruit and onboard key positions across the country organization in coordination with headquarters.
• Ensure compliance with local legal, regulatory, security, safety, and data-protection requirements across all academy activities.

The Essentials

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including 5+ years as a General Manager, Country Manager, COO, or director of a large-scale program.
• Proven track record standing up and running complex operations or large-scale projects, ideally in training/education, technology, defense, or security sectors.
• Strong business operations background: P&L ownership, budgeting, procurement, vendor management, and organizational buildout.
• Experience in cybersecurity governance – such as building or overseeing security programs, policies, risk and compliance frameworks, or governance of cyber-related operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (academic, technical, and operational) and manage senior stakeholders, including government entities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently far from headquarters.
• High integrity and discretion, with the ability to maintain confidentiality in a sensitive environment.
• Willingness to relocate internationally and work onsite full-time, with regional and international travel as needed.
• Must hold a valid foreign passport that enables international relocation and employment outside their country of residence.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in Southeast Asia and familiarity with the local business, regulatory, and cultural environment.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity, AI, or technology training environments.
• Experience delivering government or public-sector programs.
• Experience establishing a new legal entity or operation in a new market.
• Additional language skills, including Bahasa Indonesia.
