R&D Opto-Mechnical Design Engineer

A global technology company based in northern Israel, specializing in the development of advanced optical inspection machines for printed circuit boards (PCBs), is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a challenging and impactful role involving end-to-end mechanical design in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a professional authority in mechanical design and work as part of a multidisciplinary development team.
• Design and develop complex mechanical assemblies and systems throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
• Perform hands-on work combining mechanical design, system assembly, and testing.
• Design mechanisms, motorized systems, pneumatic systems, and optomechanical assemblies.
• Perform mechanical strength calculations, thermal simulations, vibration analysis, and prepare manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Design and integrate optical and electro-optical components, including cameras, lenses, and microscopes.
• Lead modules from the initial concept stage through integration and system testing.
• Work closely with Procurement, NPI, Production Planning, manufacturers, and suppliers to meet project schedules and milestones.
• Provide technical support to manufacturers and suppliers throughout the production process.
• Support strategic customers remotely and assist in resolving complex technical issues.
• Contribute to the development of next-generation machines and the integration of innovative technologies.
• Collaborate closely with teams and stakeholders across the company’s global sites.

Requirements:

• Bsc in Mechanical Engineering - mandatory.
• At least two years of experience in complex mechanical design and multidisciplinary systems - mandatory.
• Experience designing optical systems, motorized systems, and/or pneumatic systems.
• Experience leading a module or assembly from concept and design through assembly and testing.
• Hands-on experience in system assembly and testing.
• Experience in optomechanical design and in designing optical or electro-optical systems and assemblies, such as cameras, lenses, or microscopes - mandatory.
• Full proficiency in SolidWorks - mandatory.
• Experience working with PDM systems - an advantage.
• High level of English.
• Ability to work independently, strong system-level thinking, and excellent interpersonal skills.
