Chief Technology Officer (CTO) — Hands-On Technology Leader

Sendi is a last-mile delivery technology platform powering delivery operations for some of Israel’s largest restaurant chains.

Our platform operates at real production scale, managing hundreds of thousands of deliveries every month and making real-time decisions around courier assignment, dispatching, ETAs, and delivery operations.

We are a lean, technology-driven company where engineering decisions have immediate impact on real businesses, couriers, restaurants, and customers.

We are now looking for a hands-on CTO to take full ownership of Sendi’s technology and lead the next stage of our growth.

This is not a management-only CTO position.

We are looking for a technology leader who is equally comfortable making architectural decisions, writing production code, solving incidents, improving infrastructure, and building the engineering team around them.

You will own Sendi’s technology end-to-end: our backend services, web applications, cloud infrastructure, databases, integrations, dispatching systems, and engineering roadmap.

You will work closely with the founders and business leadership to translate operational and commercial challenges into technology — while remaining deeply involved in what actually runs in production.

Our engineering team is intentionally lean today. That means significant ownership and influence from day one.

As we grow, you will be responsible for shaping the engineering organization, hiring the right people, establishing strong engineering practices, and determining how our architecture evolves with the business.

• Full technical ownership of the Sendi platform and its architecture
• Backend services across Java / Spring Boot and PHP
• Frontend applications built with Angular / TypeScript
• Cloud infrastructure including AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, networking, and RDS
• Production reliability, monitoring, incident response, security, and performance
• MySQL architecture, indexing, query optimization, and database performance
• High-throughput, real-time systems handling hundreds of thousands of deliveries every month
• Dispatching, courier assignment, routing, ETA, and optimization systems
• APIs and integrations with restaurant chains, POS systems, delivery providers, and external partners
• Technical roadmap and architectural decisions as Sendi scales
• Engineering standards around code quality, testing, documentation, deployment, and observability
• Building and leading the engineering team as the company grows

We care more about real production ownership and technical depth than titles.

You may already be a CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, Technical Lead, or senior engineer ready to take full ownership of a technology organization.

You should have:

• 7+ years of experience building and operating production software systems
• Strong hands-on backend experience in Java / Spring Boot or PHP, with the ability and willingness to work across both
• Strong experience with Angular / TypeScript and modern web applications
• Deep production experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
• Strong MySQL and SQL knowledge, including indexing, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting
• Experience designing and operating scalable APIs and distributed systems
• A strong understanding of production reliability, monitoring, security, and performance
• Experience making architecture decisions with real business and operational consequences
• The ability to move comfortably between architecture, code, infrastructure, product, and business discussions
• A strong ownership mentality — when something breaks in production, you take responsibility for understanding it, fixing it, and making the system better afterward
• The ability to lead engineers while remaining deeply technical and hands-on

• Experience in logistics, last-mile delivery, marketplaces, or mobility
• Experience with real-time dispatching, assignment, routing, or optimization systems
• Geospatial systems experience
• Native Android or iOS development experience
• Infrastructure-as-code experience
• Experience scaling an engineering organization from a small core team
• Experience working in an environment where technology directly affects real-world operations
