Backend Team Lead

A well-established, profitable Cyber Intelligence & Defense Tech startup developing advanced Big Data analytics and sensor-fusion platforms.

The company’s platform leverages complex algorithms for multi-sensor data processing, feature classification, pattern identification, and intelligence research tailored for defense and security sectors.

Operating successfully for over 7 years with a solid base of paying global customers, the company maintains a high-caliber R&D hub of ~25 professionals in Israel and is currently expanding.

Located Ramat Gan (walking distance from the central train station), operating on a hybrid work model with 2 days WFH per week.

Role Description-

• Joining as a Software Team Lead, managing a core team of 4 Backend developers (3 senior engineers) in a direct line and technical management capacity.
• Balancing team leadership, system architecture, and tech-stack evaluation with ~50% hands-on development in Java & Spring Boot.
• Driving technical architecture, system design, and performance optimizations for complex, high-throughput Big Data processing systems.
• Introducing modern AI / Generative AI tools, frameworks, and workflows into the engineering stack to optimize data classification and research capabilities.
• Leading end-to-end feature lifecycles within an agile, low-bureaucracy, and high-impact R&D environment.

Requirements-

• Proven experience as a Software Team Lead or Technical Lead (Tech Lead) – Mandatory
• 5+ years of hands-on Backend development experience in Java – Mandatory
• Deep, practical experience developing microservices with Spring / Spring Boot – Mandatory
• Hands-on experience developing with or integrating AI / Machine Learning / GenAI technologies into production systems – Mandatory
• Practical experience working with Big Data architectures, databases, and high-scale data pipelines – Mandatory
• Strong background in System Architecture, Low-Latency execution, and technical design – Advantage
• Background in Cyber Security, Defense Systems, Intelligence Platforms, or Sensor Fusion – Advantage
