Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Olympus is recruiting on behalf of BioProtect, its fully owned entity dedicated to advancing prostate cancer care through innovative spacing solutions.

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the components that go into our life-changing medical devices. Working closely with global suppliers and cross-functional teams, you'll drive supplier quality performance from new product introduction through to ongoing production, helping to deliver safe, high-quality products that healthcare professionals and patients can rely on.

What you will be doing

• Develop and implement supplier quality strategies, including incoming inspection and supplier quality planning
• Represent Supplier Quality within new product development projects, ensuring quality requirements are embedded from concept through launch
• Lead supplier qualification activities, including APQP, FAI, process validation and early supplier involvement
• Own supplier quality issues, including non-conformance management, SCARs, root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Drive supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reliability and compliance
• Manage supplier-related engineering changes, material qualifications and technical quality risks
• Define and oversee incoming inspection plans, including acceptance decisions and inspector guidance
• Act as the primary quality contact for suppliers, building strong partnerships to resolve product quality issues
• Monitor and report supplier quality performance through metrics and data-driven analysis
• Participate in quality review boards and support internal, supplier and regulatory audits (FDA, ISO, MDSAP)
• Support supplier approval, evaluation, quality agreement and audit activities, as delegated

Who we are looking for

We're looking for a collaborative quality professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building strong supplier partnerships, and driving continuous improvement. You'll be confident working in a regulated medical device or IVD environment, balancing technical expertise with a pragmatic approach to quality and compliance. To this role, you will bring:

• Bachelors degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Physical Sciences or a related technical discipline
• At least 5 years' experience in Supplier Quality Engineering within the medical device, IVD or another highly regulated industry
• Strong understanding of global quality and regulatory requirements, such as ISO 9001, FDA QSR and GMP, with the ability to apply them in practice
• Hands-on experience using quality tools and methodologies, including 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA and IQ/OQ/PQ validation
• Strong technical knowledge within your product or supplier category, with experience supporting supplier qualification and quality improvement
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence suppliers and collaborate across cross-functional teams
• Good project management and organisational skills, enabling you to manage multiple priorities and deliver results
• Fluency in English and a willingness to travel internationally (approximately 20%)
