Director, Engineering

Datadog's Tel Aviv engineering site builds across some of our fastest-moving product areas — from Product Analytics, to Universal Service Monitoring, to Security Monitoring, to the Software Delivery tools that help engineers everywhere ship and operate software safely. It's a site with real engineering depth, and we're investing in the on-site senior leadership to match it.

We are looking for a Director of Engineering, based in Tel Aviv, to lead a multi-team engineering organization in one of these areas, and help shape the site as it grows. In this role, you will partner closely with product managers and with engineering leaders across Tel Aviv, Paris, and the US to shape the roadmap; grow and develop the team to match the business needs; raise the bar on engineering practices and craft; and play a central role in building the culture of a site we're investing in for the long term.

What You'll Do:

• Manage and grow a team of talented engineers, making sure they deliver high-quality, timely work and that they're happy, motivated, and developing in their careers
• Hire and develop senior talent, engineers and managers alike, raising the seniority bar on site as we scale
• Grow and develop a team of engineering managers — coaching them as leaders and building the layer of leadership the site needs as it scales
• Partner with product managers and designers to shape the future of the product
• Work with engineering leaders in Tel Aviv, Europe, and the US to deliver cross-cutting projects across a multi-hub organization
• Help shape the future of the Tel Aviv site and the broader engineering organization
  
  

Who You Are:

• You are a product-building leader with real product sense, comfortable working hand in hand with product and design to decide what to build, not just how to build it
• You came up through engineering and can earn the trust of senior engineers in a fast conversation; you favor breadth and adaptability, and you can ramp quickly into a technical domain you didn't start in
• You integrate AI into how you lead and how your teams build, treating AI-first thinking as core engineering practice rather than a feature bolted onto the product
• You have hired, grown, and developed engineering teams, creating long-term plans for people's growth and motivation
• You have managed managers — you've hired, coached, and developed engineering managers, and led an organization with multiple layers of leadership beneath you
• You have operated in multi-geography companies at scale, and you can read and work effectively across different sites and company cultures
• You want to be the senior engineering leader on the ground in Tel Aviv — setting the technical and cultural bar, and building a site rather than inheriting a finished one
• You have a customer-focused mindset and a relentless drive to build products that address real needs
• You bring real depth in at least one of our areas — web and product analytics, agentic or developer-experience products, low-level systems and networking, or security engineering
