Seasonal Road & Bridge Workers

Osage County is searching for a seasonal Road and Bridge Laborer/Driver and Laborere/Mower for the County Road and Bridge department.

Under the supervision of the Road and Bridge Supervisor, these positions are a non­ exempt position under FLSA. Various job responsibilities pertaining to road and bridge are handled by this employee. This position operates light equipment and performs routine maintenance and repairs to county roads and bridges. Excellent mechanical skills and strong communication skills are required.

Essential Functions

• Operates light machinery
• Performs road and bridge maintenance and repairs;
• Performs site preparation for job sites;
• Files appropriate reports with supervisor as needed;
• Transports equipment to job sites;
• Transports materials to job sites;
• Assists mechanics· as necessary;
• Distributes road barricades as needed;
• Assists with the maintenance of ditches and culverts;
• Provides weed and grass control to road shoulders and shop areas;
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
  
  

Physical Demands:

This work is physically demanding and frequently requires lifting 70# or more. Climbing, pushing, kneeling, or reaching while performing maintenance, installation, and repair activities such as component replacement and handling, and other manual labor tasks.

Experience:

1 – 3 years of similar or related experience is preferred.

Education:

A high school diploma or GED is required. A valid Kansas Driver’s License is also required.

This position requires a DOT Physical and Drug Screen.
