MCP Backend Engineer

Role Description - Build the bridge between enterprise IoT & telecom systems and AI

We're looking for a Backend Engineer to design and build the Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that connect our IoT and telecommunications platform to AI assistants such as Claude. You'll own the MCP domain end-to-end — defining the architecture from the ground up and working directly with our CTO and engineering team to get it right.

Your job is to expose enterprise capabilities to AI assistants through secure, well-designed interfaces, so that AI can act on our platform safely and reliably. This is a hands-on role with real ownership: you'll be the go-to engineer for everything MCP across the company, with direct support from our technical leadership.

What you'll do

• Design and develop production-grade MCP servers.
• Define the MCP architecture and best practices for our platform.
• Design secure interfaces between AI assistants and our IoT/telecom services.
• Build and maintain robust API integrations with internal and external systems.
• Implement secure authorization using OAuth 2.1 / PKCE, treating each MCP server as an OAuth 2.1 resource server that validates tokens and enforces access control.
• Own the domain end-to-end: scalability, security, reliability and maintainability.

Requirements

• 1–4 years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Deep understanding of REST APIs and API design.
• Strong grasp of HTTP, JSON and API security.
• Solid understanding of OAuth 2.0 / 2.1, PKCE and JWT-based authorization.
• Experience integrating external services and APIs.
• Experience with Docker.
• Experience with AWS.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.

Nice to have

• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) — welcome but not expected; we don't assume prior MCP experience.
• Experience with the Claude API or other LLM APIs.
• Kubernetes.
• Enterprise security or ISO 27001 environments.
