We are seeking a highly motivated Materials Science and Engineering Researcher to join our R&D team and contribute to the development of next-generation electrochemical systems for CO₂ capture. In this role, you will work at the intersection of materials science, electrochemistry, and systems engineering to develop, evaluate, and optimize active materials, electrode formulations, membrane–electrode assemblies (MEAs), and cell architectures that enhance device performance, efficiency, and durability.
This multidisciplinary position combines expertise in chemistry, materials engineering, electrochemistry, and process engineering. You will collaborate closely with the Process Development, Electrochemistry, and Integration teams to translate advanced materials and manufacturing innovations into high-performing, scalable electrochemical cell technologies.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, experiment‑driven environment and wants to have a real impact on climate‑tech innovation. You will play a central role in developing the electrochemical core of the technology, directly impacting capture efficiency, energy consumption, durability, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the advancement of technology at both materials and process levels.
- Perform and analyze investigative testing in various characterization techniques (SEM, EDS, XRD, Spectrophotometry, ICP-MS, TGA/DSC, NMR, Mechanical Testing, etc.) for both product development and failure analysis.
- Plan, execute, and analyze hands-on experimental work in a lab setting.
- Control surface characteristics including morphology, wetting, and interfacial properties to optimize electrode performance, mass transport, and long-term stability.
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to identify cutting-edge developments and potential solutions.
- Work closely with Formulation & Electrochemistry teams to link material properties to electrochemical performance, and to propose new materials, and morphological manipulations.
- Collaborate closely with international R&D partners to accelerate project progress and innovation.
- Maintain high level of knowledge-documentation and organization.
- Develop tools and workflows for automated or semi‑automated data analysis.
- Contribute to IP and patents.
Qualifications
Required:
- PhD. in Materials Science and Engineering, Solid-state Chemistry, or related fields, or alternatively MSc with at least 5 years of experience in relevant industries.
- Strong analytical and experimental skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork.
- Curiosity and problem‑solving mindset, with a “can-do” attitude.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Advantages:
- Experience with MEA development, flow fields, or gas‑diffusion systems.
- Active (or renewable) certifications in characterization tools (SEM, EDS, XRD, etc.)
