Platform Team Leader — AI-Native Platform

We're looking for a Platform Team Leader who leads a team of backend engineers and owns their group's technical direction and output end to end — from architecture and implementation to production, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

This role is for a hands-on technical leader who combines strong backend engineering with practical use of AI tools in the development and production workflows, and who knows how to grow and lead a team. Someone who moves fast, thinks in systems, cares about production quality, and knows how to turn complex ideas into reliable software — through their own work and through the people they lead.

Getruck is an Israeli startup transforming ground logistics through technology.

Our platform combines advanced algorithms, AI, and real-time operational data to help logistics teams plan better, dispatch smarter, optimize routes, adapt quickly to changes, and gain full visibility across their operations.

We’re building an AI-native platform where intelligence is embedded across the system — from planning and optimization to real-time decision-making and automation — in a complex, high-pressure industry where constraints constantly change, decisions happen fast, and reliability matters.

As a Platform Team Leader at Getruck, you'll lead a team of backend engineers who design and build backend systems that support real logistics workflows at scale.

You'll work on microservices, APIs, data pipelines, event-driven systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI-native product capabilities — helping turn data into real operational value through intelligent automation and decision-support systems. You'll also use modern AI-assisted engineering tools as a core part of how your team builds software today, helping push our agentic SDLC to the top.

This is not a narrow management role. You'll be expected to stay hands-on, make technical decisions, set direction for your team, collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, and make sure what your team builds works well in production.

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers — including hiring, onboarding, 1:1s, career development, and performance feedback.
• Own your team's technical roadmap and delivery end to end — architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, production support, and continuous improvement.
• Stay hands-on building scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, Python and FastAPI.
• Design and evolve microservices, APIs, queues, event-driven systems, and data pipelines that operate under real-world logistics load.
• Work with Kubernetes, cloud environments, and modern CI/CD practices to ship reliable production systems.
• Guide the design, build, and operation of AI-powered systems in production — including agents, orchestration layers, tool integrations, and long-running workflows — ensuring they are reliable, observable, secure, and deliver real customer value at scale.
• Collaborate closely with product, DevOps, QA, data, AI, and fellow engineering leaders to align priorities and deliver high-impact features.
• Improve reliability through monitoring, alerting, debugging, performance tuning, and production hardening.
• Raise the engineering bar by improving architecture, code quality, developer experience, and delivery practices across the team.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, MCP-based tools, plugins, skills, or similar systems as part of your and your team's development workflow.

• Proven experience leading, managing, or mentoring backend engineers — as a team lead, tech lead, or engineering manager.
• Professional experience including at least two senior-level backend roles in different companies, with at least one significant position in a startup environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, Python, and FastAPI.
• Solid backend fundamentals: distributed systems, microservices, APIs, queues, event streaming, databases, containers, and production operations.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database knowledge, including experience with high-load or high-availability systems.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, MCP, plugins, skills, or similar systems.
• Experience designing or shipping AI backend capabilities, including LLM integrations, RAG, tool/function calling, agentic workflows, evaluation, guardrails, or AI observability.
• Strong engineering judgment around trade-offs, reliability, maintainability, security, and delivery speed.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align, motivate, and represent your team across product, DevOps, QA, and engineering.
• Strong English communication skills.

• Experience scaling a backend engineering team or function inside a fast-growing startup.
• Experience with agent orchestration concepts such as workflow state, tool invocation, memory, concurrency, long-running processes, and production reliability.
• Experience with agent harnesses or orchestration frameworks for memory, skills, tool execution, and long-running workflows.
• Experience with workflow engines such as Airflow or similar systems.
• Familiarity with secure AI architecture, AI threat modeling, policy enforcement, or runtime protections.
• Experience with big data technologies.
• Active military security classification.
