Lead AI Engineer

Location: Haifa

A leading oil refinery company in Haifa is seeking an experienced Lead AI Engineer to join its team.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Lead AI Engineer with a proven leadership background to lead the design, development, management, and implementation of enterprise-scale AI solutions within a large organization. This role combines solution architecture, technical leadership, and hands-on development with team management and strategic planning across multiple business units.

The position focuses on RAG systems, AI Agents, enterprise integrations, and hybrid cloud environments (Azure and On-Premises). The successful candidate will play a key role in driving technological innovation, managing development deliverables, and embedding advanced AI solutions into the organization's day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Development Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of AI engineers, including task allocation, technical guidance, code quality standards, and professional development.
• Roadmap & Planning: Build and execute short- and long-term AI roadmaps, define milestones, timelines, and proactively manage project risks.
• Architecture & Development: Design enterprise AI architectures based on LLMs, RAG, and AI Agents, while remaining hands-on in the end-to-end development of AI services.
• AI Infrastructure & Pipelines: Design and implement RAG pipelines, including ingestion, chunking, embeddings, and retrieval, while building reusable components for the organization's AI platform.
• Enterprise Integration & Security: Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Graph API, Teams, and other APIs, while implementing security controls, access management, and data leakage prevention mechanisms.
• Business Partnership: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to identify AI use cases and lead projects from ideation and proof of concept (POC) through enterprise-scale production deployment.

Mandatory Requirements

• Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of proven experience leading software development teams as a Tech Lead or Team Lead in AI, Data Science, or Software Engineering.
• Enterprise Experience: Experience working in large enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders, complex organizational processes, and cross-functional project leadership.
• Python Development: Strong hands-on experience developing production-grade applications and services in Python.
• RAG Systems: Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions in production environments.
• LLMs & Software Architecture: Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI and/or OpenAI, designing complex AI systems, software architecture, and API development.
