Role Description Intellectual Property Manager

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to support the IP management of IP of cutting-edge university research. In this role, you will evaluate invention disclosures for patentability, craft commercially relevant claims, shape patent filing and portfolio strategies aligned with licensing objectives, manage relationships with outside patent counsel, and support IP aspects of license negotiations, startup transactions, and due diligence. You'll work at the intersection of science, law, and business—moving between technical discussions with inventors and detailed prosecution matters with external attorneys.

The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree (PhD/MSc/BSc.) in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field, with 5–10 years of experience in patent prosecution as well as IP portfolio management, technology transfer corporate IP. You bring strong patent prosecution and strategy expertise, sound commercial judgment, and the versatility to work across software, engineering, and life sciences portfolios. Registration as a Patent Attorney and familiarity with IP management and analytics platforms are strong advantages. Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Patent Law and Intellectual Property, with demonstrated ability to manage complex patent portfolios.
• Experience in Patent Preparation and Patentability assessment, including drafting or reviewing patent applications and claims.
• Background in Research and Development (R&D), preferably in a scientific or technological field relevant to university innovations.
• BSc,MSc, PhD or advanced degree in engineering, computer science, physics or a related discipline; qualification as a patent attorney or patent agent is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language skills are beneficial.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, legal professionals, and industry partners, in an on-site team environment.
