Data Engineering Lead (Hands-on IC)

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineering Lead to build and lead the company’s data infrastructure.

You will be responsible for the full data flow, including ingestion, streaming, orchestration, processing, storage, indexing, caching, and customer-facing RT serving.

Many of the main architecture decisions are still open. You will review the workloads, choose the right technologies, explain the trade-offs, and lead the implementation in a production environment used by global enterprise customers.

What You Will Do

• Design and build a data platform that supports high-volume streaming, batch processing, and RT serving.
• Make technical decisions around databases, storage, indexing, caching, orchestration, partitioning, and scale.
• Build production workflows with retries, recovery, monitoring, testing, and CI/CD.
• Work hands-on in Python, including implementation, code reviews, debugging, and performance improvements.
• Own technical decisions across the data flow and set standards used by engineering and product teams.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong background in Software Engineering, Backend, Data Platform, Data Engineering or Distributed Systems.
• Experience building and operating large-scale production data infrastructure.

About the company

This role is at a well-funded Israeli startup which has been building a GenAI product with agents at its core, serving global enterprise customers such as TripAdvisor & Uber.

The platform processes tens of terabytes of production data, with hundreds of gigabytes of new data added every day. The challenge is keeping that data accurate, up to date, and readily available to customers.

The startup's main R&D center is in Tel Aviv, close to Hashalom train station.

The hybrid model includes 2 days working from home.
