AboAbout the Role
V is a global Connected TV operating system, powering millions of devices worldwide across media, advertising, and app distribution businesses. We are seeking a Data Protection Officer to lead our global privacy program across product, ad‑tech, content, app distribution, employee, and vendor data.
This is a hands‑on privacy leadership role within the Legal team. The DPO acts as an independent privacy leader with direct access to senior management, driving privacy strategy, governance, and day‑to‑day implementation in a fast‑moving CTV OS and media environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the company’s Data Protection Officer and lead the global privacy function across all regions where our operating system and services are available.
- Inform and advise the company and its employees on obligations under GDPR and other applicable privacy laws, with a focus on connected TV, media, streaming, app distribution, advertising, and ad‑tech.
- Lead privacy operations, including DPIAs and other risk assessments, records of processing activities and data mapping, privacy documentation and policies, staff training, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data subjects and data protection authorities on privacy questions, complaints, investigations, and regulatory correspondence, including data subject rights handling.
- Lead privacy incident assessment and support breach notification decisions and communications in coordination with the Security team and other stakeholders.
- Lead the privacy and data protection aspects of ad‑tech, targeting and measurement, OS telemetry and analytics, media services, vendor onboarding, and cross‑border data transfers, embedding privacy‑by‑design into products and services.
- Work closely with Security, Product, R&D, Sales, HR, and other teams to embed privacy requirements into business processes and decision‑making, while maintaining the independence required for the DPO function.
- Monitor and interpret developments in major privacy regimes relevant to our markets (including emerging frameworks such as the EU AI Act and DORA) and translate them into clear, actionable requirements and guidance for the business.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years’ relevant post‑qualification experience, including substantial experience in data protection and privacy law.
- Expert in GDPR and UK GDPR, with experience across other major privacy regimes relevant to connected TV, media, and advertising.
- Proven experience in a leading privacy role (in‑house, law firm), with responsibility for building, leading, or materially shaping privacy programs.
- Strong understanding of privacy issues in digital products and services, including ad‑tech, profiling, consent, platform data use, analytics, media services, vendor management, and cross‑border data transfers.
- Experience leading DPIAs, data subject rights processes, incident response, and privacy governance initiatives.
- LL.B. or equivalent legal degree; licensed to practise law and in good standing in any jurisdiction.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI governance and emerging EU frameworks (e.g., AI Act, DORA).
- Experience with ESG reporting and supply chain data compliance.
- Experience collaborating with security, product, engineering, and commercial teams in a technology, platform, media, or advertising context.
- Professional privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent DPO certifications.

We are seeking a Legal Counsel (3–5 years’ post-qualification experience) to join our in-house legal team, supporting our fast-growing Connected TV operating system and associated media, advertising, and app distribution businesses.
You will serve as a commercially focused media and broadcasting counsel, supporting app and content distribution, OEM partnerships, advertising and streaming services, ad-tech transactions, and channel- or content-related commercial work.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a legal point of contact for the Business Development team, independently leading and negotiating commercial transactions to ensure deal terms are accurately reflected in agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including content and distribution agreements, channel and app distribution deals, advertising and sponsorship contracts, supply- and demand-side ad tech agreements, content licensing deals (including output deals, territorial rights, co-productions, and distribution windows), OEM agreements, and NDAs.
- Partner with Business Development, Product, and other internal stakeholders as a trusted legal business partner, helping achieve commercial goals while managing legal risk.
- Independently assess legal risk across commercial transactions and escalate where appropriate, exercising sound legal judgment.
- Develop and maintain templates, playbooks, internal guidance materials, and support CLM processes.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments in media, broadcasting, digital advertising, and platform services, and support implementation of necessary changes.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally gained at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house in a media or technology company.
- Solid experience in commercial contracts, with demonstrated exposure to content licensing, channel distribution, advertising, or broader media and broadcasting agreements.
- Experience working with OEMs, international broadcasters, content providers, studios, or media companies, including cross-border negotiations.
- Familiarity with content licensing deal structures, including output deals, territorial rights, co-productions, and distribution windows.
- Solid background in IP, media, and commercial law; familiarity with data privacy issues arising in commercial transactions is an advantage.
- Experience managing complex or multi-jurisdictional matters.
- LL.B. or equivalent legal degree; licensed to practice law and in good standing in any jurisdiction.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
