AI Product Manager

About the Role

We’re looking for an AI Product Manager to shape the future of scientific AI. You’ll own the evolution of our scientific AI assistant, helping researchers perform complex computational work faster, more reliably, and in a way that organizations can confidently deploy at enterprise scale.

This role sits at the seam between Product and R&D and is designed for someone who has lived on both sides: an engineer who became a product manager, or a product manager who still enjoys building.

This position includes spending time with customers and understanding emerging workflows, rapidly prototyping new experiences using AI coding agents, defining evaluation frameworks for agentic systems, and translating successful experiments into scalable product capabilities.

You’ll help determine not only what we build, but how AI becomes a trusted collaborator for computational scientists.

What You’ll Do

- Define product strategy and roadmap for key AI capabilities across the Code Ocean platform.

- Work directly with computational scientists and AI teams to uncover opportunities where

GenAI can meaningfully improve scientific workflows.

- Rapidly prototype new product experiences using AI coding assistants and validate them with

users before engineering implementation.

- Transform successful customer experiments and proofs-of-concept into scalable product

capabilities.

- Write clear product specifications and user stories that align customer needs with the

platform’s technical architecture.

- Define evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, and success metrics for agentic systems,

balancing scientific accuracy, reproducibility, usability, and performance.

- Partner closely with engineering, design, and scientific stakeholders to deliver high-impact AI

features.

- Drive adoption through continuous experimentation, product analytics, and customer

feedback.

Who You Are

- You’re a software engineer at heart with substantial hands-on development experience and

enjoy working close to the code.

- You have built and shipped AI-native products powered by LLMs, agents, or modern AI

services.

- You are comfortable prototyping ideas yourself using AI coding assistants and understand

how to turn prototypes into production-ready products.

- You have experience translating complex AI capabilities into detailed product specifications

and engineering requirements.

- You actively follow advances in GenAI, agentic systems, evaluation methodologies, and AI

developer tooling, and enjoy experimenting with emerging technologies.

- You have at least three years of experience owning products, including strategy, prioritization,

roadmaps, KPIs, and cross-functional execution.

- You enjoy partnering with customers to understand difficult problems and validating solutions

through rapid iteration.

- You’re excited by the challenge of building trustworthy AI for scientific research, where

reproducibility, compliance, and explainability are first-class product requirements.

- You hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field.

- Experience in building AI products for regulated industries, life sciences, healthcare, or

research environments is a strong plus.
