Senior Director of Infrastructure

The Role & Mission:

As the Senior Director of Infrastructure, you will lead the organization that serves as our technological backbone. You will oversee the DevOps and Cloud Engineering groups, building a main platform that acts as a force multiplier for the entire R&D division.

This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role where you will manage a significant cloud and vendor budget, drive the multi-cloud strategy, and ensure our high-scale systems are resilient, secure, and scalable. You will lead the infrastructure evolution required to support our next leap in innovation: the widespread organizational adoption and enablement of GenAI.

Responsibilities:

• Spearhead the infrastructure strategy for Generative AI, building the platforms and tooling necessary to enable GenAI capabilities across the organization, facilitating internal adoption and ensuring developers have seamless, scalable access to models and compute resources.
• Lead and grow a robust, multi-disciplinary organization, managing managers and overseeing core infrastructure domains.
• Drive initiatives focused on Developer Experience (DevEx), Data Enablement, and Data Services to minimize friction and maximize velocity for hundreds of developers.
• Own the core infrastructure platforms, including DevOps, Automation Infrastructure, Performance Engineering, and the NOC.
• Hold full accountability for a substantial hosting and tooling budget, managing strategic relationships and renewals with major vendors and driving FinOps practices to optimize investments.
• Define the vision for high-scale production services, ensuring reliability, observability, and rapid incident response through NOC and SRE practices to maintain high service levels.
• Translate business needs into infrastructure roadmaps, partnering with Engineering leadership to ensure the platform evolves ahead of product requirements.
• Hire, review, and grow a high-performing team of managers and engineers, building a culture of trust, versatility, and technical excellence.
• Act as an active member of the Engineering Management Staff, contributing to cross-organizational activities to drive efficiency, productivity, and innovation across the entire R&D division.

Requirements:

• Experience: Significant experience in engineering leadership, with a proven track record of managing large infrastructure or platform engineering organizations (experience managing managers is a must).
• GenAI Readiness: Experience or a strong strategic vision for implementing and supporting GenAI infrastructure and internal developer tools.
• Cloud Mastery: Deep hands-on and strategic experience with high-scale cloud environments (primarily AWS).
• Tech Stack: Strong familiarity with modern infrastructure stacks: Kubernetes, Terraform/Pulumi, Datadog, Snowflake, Confluent/Kafka, and CI/CD methodologies.
• Financial Acumen: Proven experience managing massive cloud budgets and practicing FinOps to effectively optimize cloud spend.
• Vision: A "Product Mindset" for infrastructure—treating the platform as a product where R&D is the customer.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead through change, inspire teams, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
