Medical Science Liaison – Neuroscience
Overview
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific role responsible for engaging Scientific Experts (SEs) across the neuroscience therapy area (e.g., Alzheimer's disease). The MSL serves as a peer-to-peer scientific resource, gathers and communicates clinical insights, and supports the successful launch and lifecycle of neuroscience products. The role offers a dynamic launch environment and a clear path for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, map, and develop peer-to-peer relationships with Scientific Experts (SEs) across the assigned neuroscience therapy area and territory.
- Provide deep disease-state and product expertise to SEs through scientific exchange.
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests, including at scientific congresses, in line with applicable compliance standards.
- Gather, synthesize, and communicate clinical insights and scientific intelligence back to Medical Affairs and cross-functional partners; identify and validate clinical care gaps in the field based on those insights, and help tailor solutions that support a smoother and faster patient journey.
- Support company-sponsored clinical trials (site identification, scientific support) and support investigator-initiated research (IIR) submissions.
- Plan and participate in advisory boards and other external expert engagements.
- Represent the company at scientific congresses — staff medical booths, summarize emerging data, and debrief internal stakeholders on competitive intelligence.
- Partner cross-functionally with other Medical Affairs colleagues, Regulatory, Commercial and Access, operating within compliance boundaries across all interactions.
- Engage in continuous learning within the neuroscience therapy area through literature review, congress participation, and internal training.
- Drive digital innovation in scientific engagement with customers.
- Operate consistently within applicable local codes and company SOPs, including off-label communication standards.
- Terminal doctorate required: PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, DMD, or DVM (or equivalent).
- English proficiency (written and oral) at advanced level (B2/C1 or higher).
- Ability to travel, including occasional overnight and weekend travel for congresses.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the assigned territory.
- Demonstrated learning agility and passion for science, results, and high standards.
- Ability to translate scientific information into business-relevant insights while maintaining scientific integrity.
- Proactive — takes independent action and responds quickly to evolving needs.
- Enthusiasm for digital technologies, with the ability to assimilate complex information and systems.
- Strong, demonstrable presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex scientific data clearly and compliantly.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a compliant manner.
- Confidence and willingness to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and translate dialogue into new ideas and solutions.
- Ability to manage a complex environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prior neuroscience therapeutic-area experience.
- Prior MSL or field medical experience is an advantage but not required.
