Backend Team Lead

The R&D center is located in the Sharon region (highly accessible via the train line), operating under a full in-office model to support continuous physical integration and testing.

Position Overview

• Backend Team Lead taking end-to-end technical and managerial ownership over the core cloud and system orchestration layers, operating in a 50% hands-on / 50% management hybrid layout.
• Leading and mentoring an intimate, high-impact core backend team while driving immediate talent acquisition and scaling efforts to expand the department.
• Architecting scalable, high-throughput backend systems in Python on top of AWS infrastructure to process massive telemetry streams, coordinate fleet routing, and handle deep learning payloads.
• Partnering directly with multi-disciplinary engineering cells across Robotics, Algorithmic Research, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning to integrate intelligence blocks into live edge/cloud workflows.
• Reporting directly to the R&D Group Manager, steering strategic architecture, code delivery standards, and core systems design.
• Core Domain & Ecosystem- Backend Leadership, Python Systems Programming, AWS Cloud Architecture, Humanoid Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Distributed Microservices, Data Modeling (SQL/NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis), and AI Pipeline Integration.

Requirements-

• Academic & Professional Excellence: B.Sc. in Computer Science or Software Engineering from a leading university (with a strong preference for the Technion), or alumni of an elite military technological intelligence unit (e.g., 81, 8200, 49, Talpiot)—Mandatory (Alumni of Unit 81 receive significant priority)
• Proven track record of technical leadership or direct team management in your most recent professional chapter—Mandatory
• 5+ years of heavy, production-grade software development experience utilizing Python—Mandatory
• Strong practical experience architecting and managing production workloads inside Cloud environments (AWS strongly preferred)—Mandatory
• Hands-on mastery of modern database design and high-concurrency caching tiers utilizing SQL or NoSQL databases (such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis)—Mandatory
• Passion for hardware-software integration, automated physical reasoning, and high-performance systemic engineering—Mandatory
