Data Engineering Department Manager – DBA

A large, well-established public-benefit organization is looking for a Data Infrastructure & DBA Department Manager to lead its enterprise data infrastructure and database engineering domain.

The organization operates mission-critical platforms that support large-scale public funding initiatives across education, healthcare, community sports, arts, culture, and environmental impact in Israel. This is a highly strategic technology role, responsible for ensuring 24/7 availability, resilience, performance, data quality, scalability, and information security across the organization’s data layer.

The role includes leading modernization initiatives, preparing the data infrastructure for a new ERP implementation, supporting the transition to cloud and hybrid environments, and enabling advanced data and AI capabilities.

Responsibilitie

• sManage the Data Infrastructure department, including dozens of enterprise databases across Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and DR environments
• .Lead the technological direction of the organization’s data layer, including data architecture, standards, best practices, and guidance for development and application teams
• .Own performance for critical systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, and workload distribution
• .Design, build, and manage hybrid data environments combining on-premise infrastructure with Azure and/or AWS cloud environments
• .Lead multi-year work plans for upgrading, consolidating, migrating, and modernizing database platforms and data infrastructure
• .Manage internal DBA team members and multiple external vendors, including SLA definition, service metrics, deliverables, escalations, and output-based vendor management

Required Qualificatio

• nsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or another relevant fie
• ldAt least 5 years of managerial experience as a Team Lead, Data Infrastructure Manager, or DBA Manag
• erAt least 10 years of hands-on experience managing enterprise databas
• esAt least 5 years of experience with Oracle and at least 3 years with SQL Serv
• erProven experience with performance tuning, complex query optimization, and performance troubleshooting in production environmen
• tsStrong experience developing against databases, including SQL, stored procedures, index planning, and data modeli
• ngExperience working with enterprise ERP systems and understanding application workload and performance patter
• nsExperience with Linux and Windows Server operating systems, vendor management, SLA definition, service metrics, and output-based delivery manageme
