Lead QA Engineer - Embedded Applications

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead QA Engineer to take ownership of the quality assurance activities for our embedded applications software and ensure that the software developed for our next-generation products is reliable, robust, and ready for production.

This role focuses on defining and leading the QA strategy for application-level software in an embedded Linux environment, including test planning, system validation, integration testing, regression coverage, automation, and release readiness for video and control workflows.

The ideal candidate has strong QA leadership experience, a deep understanding of embedded systems and software testing methodologies, and the ability to build structured QA processes that improve product quality across development, integration, and field deployment stages.

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead the QA activities for Linux-based embedded applications, including software developed for embedded product environments.
• Define, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans for application-level features related to video streaming, system control, management, performance, reliability, and product integration.
• Take ownership of release quality by planning regression cycles, validating fixes, tracking defects, and providing clear quality status and release readiness recommendations.
• Design and promote automated testing approaches using scripting, test frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines to improve coverage, repeatability, and execution efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with embedded software developers, algorithm engineers, system engineers, product teams, and field support teams to ensure robust end-to-end product behavior.
• Analyze field issues, reproduce customer scenarios, support root-cause investigation, and ensure that corrective actions are properly verified before release.
• Establish QA best practices, test documentation standards, defect tracking discipline, and quality metrics for the embedded applications software domain.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on QA experience, including significant experience testing embedded devices, embedded Linux applications, or hardware-integrated software products.
• Excellent Linux proficiency, with the ability to work confidently in Linux-based embedded environments and troubleshoot software and system-level issues on target devices.
• Proven ability to test software directly on embedded hardware, reproduce device-level issues, collect and analyze logs, isolate failures across software, operating system, network, and hardware interfaces, and clearly report root-cause findings.
• Strong experience defining test strategies, writing detailed test plans, executing manual and automated tests, managing regression cycles, and validating embedded software releases.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages for test automation, device control, log analysis, stress testing, and repeatable validation flows.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, defect tracking tools, CI/CD processes, build artifacts, versioned releases, and collaborative development environments.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize QA activities, communicate technical risks clearly, and collaborate effectively with embedded software, system, hardware, and field engineering teams.
